Well I have been pretty busy with the TOSSM radio site. Some really cool things have been happening in that area lately. I pre-recorded an interview sometime back with "No Justice" at the Wormy Dog before one of their shows. Then later we airred the interview on the TOSSM radio site, and gave away tickets to the "Larry Joe Taylor Annual Music Fest".
A few weeks later, Ginger (wife) and I attended the festival, which we are big fans of. The festival went Great. A big "THANKS" to Larry Joe, Sherry, and Zack Taylor for making life a little easier while there. It was good to see Keith, Vance, Dan, Crazy Ray, and all my good friends there. We didn't get down there till Wednesday, as Larry Joe kicked things off , then later, Two Tons of Steel, which was my first time to see them play. They had some great music. Then to top off the evening Rodney Crowell, Will Kimbrough and the rest of Rodney's band. Keith Sykes came out and sang a few tunes with them, which was Great. I got to see Kevin Welch the next day with his son Dustin play for the first time. They put on a helluva show. I got to visit with him a little bit after his show, damn nice folks. Then the rain started moving in, and hung around for a couple of days, making it a little uncomfortable at times, but the shows went on. Later that evening, we saw Stoney LaRue and band with Travis Linville sitting in with him. Then, Reckless Kelly kept the party going, followed by Jason Boland and the Stragglers, with Travis Linville sitting in with them also. I just got a feeling your gonna see more of Travis Linville in more festivals to come. Damn, that kid can play. Then Cross Canadian Ragweed finished out the nite, as the fans went crazy. Friday, the music resumed, I missed a few of the people play, but did get to see Keith Sykes, then later Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines with a full band. I missed out on Bonnie Bishops show, but did get to visit with her for a while. Later in the evening I was able to catch Django Walker's show, I later caught Mike McClure's show. While watching McClure, some DUMBASS threw an unopened coke can and hit me in the side of the head, about knocked me out. It's beyond me, why some ASSHOLES get a kick out of throwing SHIT at a concert like that. I seen all kinds of crap hit the stage all weekend. And the bad part is, that because of the huge crowd, you can't hardly see where the crap is launched from. After McClure played, a storm started moving in and was scheduled to hit sometime in the next couple of hours. So since we had a motel room in town, we went ahead and left a little early, missing Deryl Dodd & Randy Rogers. The next day, which was Saturday, the wife and I was back out there before everything started, but since we had so much rain, we ended up getting stuck in the parking log as it was a Freakin Mess. We had a couple of guys helping us finally get our truck parked. By the time we got up by the stage, it was time for the main stage to start up. I hated missing Susan Gibson, she is one of my favorites, I also wanted to see Brandon Rhyder and Davin James. I even missed Ed Burleson on the main stage, while I was still down muddin in the parking lot. I finally got to see my buddy Tommy Alverson. He puts on a great show, I always look forward to seeing Tommy play. He was followed by Rusty Weir, another great show. Hayes Carll played the main stage this year with his band, they were sounding good as ever. A new face this year, Lee Roy Parnell, played, this dude played his ass off. He is quite the guitar picker. His daughter later came out and joined him onstage. Next up was Cooder Graw, they definitely had people dancing in the crowd. I always enjoy a Cooder Graw show. Heading up the show was Larry Joe Taylor & band. I always feel like I am out taking a cruise when listening to his music. He is known for his Coastal Country style of music, always a good time. Larry Joe sures knows how to throw a party, that's for damn sure. Later that nite we did get a chance to make it out to some of the campfires, mainly at Crazy Ray's. Greg (my kid) , and my buddy Dan played at Ray's campfire, along with some other musicians. It was all a good time. Well, I am already looking forward to next years festival.
I made some new friends recently, the "Bosi D' Arcs", a band from around the Muenster, TX area. These guys put on a hellu-va show that nite. The drummer's dad Tony Desmuke, was really helpful in helping me set up an interview with these guys at the Wormy Dog awhile back. I later went and had dinner with them and hung out with them for awhile. What a great bunch of guys. We airred that interview the other nite, giving away copies of their new self-titled CD, the "Bois D' Arcs". If you haven't ever heard the, "Bois D' Arcs" play, you need to check out their shows, great music.
In the last few weeks I have went with Greg (my kid), as he has done some shows with Bo Phillips. He played a show with him at a place called, "Roosters" in Stillwater, OK. Then a week or so ago, Greg played at the Wormy Dog in OKC with Bo.
The other nite I headed up to Lawton to see Cross Canadian Raqweed, Kevin Fowler, and No Justice. There was a great turnout for that show. I know I probably left some things out that I was at from the last time I reported in on this thing, but my memory just doesn't go back that far.
Well, if all goes well tomorrow nite, I will be at the Blue Door to see some friends that I haven't seen in awhile, John Greenberg, Walt Wilkins and a couple of others. These guys are great singer/songwriters, so come out and join me.
Sorry this post was so long, I had to catch up you know.

Until next time, "Support Live Music".

Guess I ought to update this

Well, sorry it has taken me so long to update this thing. I have been to alot of shows since the last time I was on here, but just got to lazy to keep this thing updated. Well to answer the last question that I put on here before I disappeared for 5 months. Yes, Ginger and I did go over and see "Jack Ingram & The Beat-Up Ford Band" play. We also wanted to go see our good friends, "Cooder Graw" over at the Wormy Dog that nite. Since it had been along time since we had caught a Jack Ingram show, we decided to go check it out. But we did get over to the Wormy Dog following the show and got to visit with CG for a bit.
Well the last show I attended was at the "Mardi Gras" in Dallas a few weeks ago. The wife (Ginger) and I got down there early for a change, got our motel room and everything taken care of, now that don't happen very often. It had rained on and off all morning going down, then came a steady rain right after we get there, raining the outdoor stages out. This left the two indoor stages. The first band to kick it off was, "Kyle Hunt Band". Good music, this was the first time I had ever saw them play and was impressed. I did get to meet the band after their show. A bunch of nice guys. They were followed by "Mike Mancy Band", which always rocks the house. The only problem I had was, the stages were on opposite ends, and when one band quit playing, the band on the other end started up. It wore me down pretty fast. I found out that I'm not the track star, running back and forth that I never was. Anyway, nobody can say I didn't get my exercise that day. It's always good to see "Stoney Larue", and they were definitely jamming out that day. He's also got a great band. I may have a few of these out of order, but I think Cooder Graw played next. I am a "Great" fan of their music. Then got down to the other end of the building to see "Randy Rogers Band". These guys are really doing good, and sounding better than ever. I missed Aaron Watson's show, I had to sit down for awhile, I was about exhausted by this time. Then "Reckless Kelly" took the stage, this guys played their asses off, they put on one-helluva show. It was about this far in the show, when I saw this girl peel her shirt off, and exposed some of the biggest hooters I ever saw. Oh, I'm sure there were plenty doing it earlier in the day, but I was trying to run back and forth and about all I could see pushing through the crowd were, beads of all colors, and those made-up cone head looking hats with all kinds of weird shit wrote on them. I even had one on at one time. We then made it just in time to see "Jason Boland & The Stragglers" play. I always enjoy watching Boland and the boys play. Next up on the other stage was, "Jack Ingram & The Beat-Up Ford Band". By the time the wife and I got to the other end, they were just getting ready to hit the stage. These guys played and sang their asses off. It was very cool to see the crowd to sing right along to every word of their songs. Cross Canadian Ragweed was the last show of the evening. By this time, the beads were flying, people crowd surfing, it was crazy. I even got hit in the side of the head by a plastic beer bottle that someone had launched. I have known the Ragweed boys & the families for a number of years, and the one thing that the band usually does to me when I try to take a pic of them, Cody will flip me off. The funniest part about this show was, Cody flips me off while I trying to get this pic of him onstage. So I flip him off back, while he was in the middle of the show, he about cracked up, it was great. What's cool about these guys, is I've got to watch them grow to be very successful with their music, and have always been a great fan to their music. Stoney Larue got up and sang with CCR, then Jack joined in the song, "Boys from Oklahoma", which is always a crowd favorite. It was very cool to see them all up there singing together. I always enjoy going to Mardi Gras, it usually turns out to be one of the biggest parties you'll ever go to. And, I got a chance to visit with most all the artist's while there, which is always very cool. I even ran into some friends up there, that I usually only see at the shows.
The next morning, I got up early and headed to the hot-tub. I felt like I had been hit by a truck after all that running back and forth. We had a good time. I was able to get what I needed done. I want to Thank, 99.5 The Wolf for helping me out at this show. It made things alot easier.
Well , I will try to not wait so long to get this thing updated again.
One last thing, "Support Live Music"

Two of the best singer / songwriters

Well I only made one stop this last week out listening to music. I went over to the Wormy Dog, on Thursday nite and heard two of the best damn singer-songwriters in the business, "Scott Evans and Susan Gibson". They covered the evening with a song swap, and I will tell you, these two put on one hell-uva show. I met Scott back in the early 90's at a place in Stillwater, OK called, "The Farm". One of my personal favorites that he does is "Steel Heart". Scott told me that he has a new CD coming out soon, so keep an eye out for it. I first met Susan, several years ago, when she played with a group called, "The Groobees". She is now doing her own thing, sometimes with a band, sometimes just her. Either way, she has been a favorite of mine ever since. Both Scott and Susan played their asses off that nite. The music just don't get much better than those two. Keep an eye out on the interview page, we will soon be adding them to our interview section. I had planned on going to see "Mike Mancy Band" the following nite, but what I dozed off watching TV and didn't wake up tilll the next day. I hate it when that happens.
So this next weekend on the 11th, Wormy Dog has Cooder Graw and Deryl Dodd playing, while Jack Ingram and The BeatUp Ford Band play at Toby Keith's Bar. I will let you know next time, who I ended up going to see.
Be sure and go out and "support live music".

Back in town from Tommy Alverson's Family Gathering!

Sorry it has taken me (3) months to get my ass back in gear to update this thing. I sometimes forget about it, I'll try to do better. Ok, the last time I was on here, we had went to watch my son Greg over at the Deep Deuce in OKC, he put on a good show with, thanks to his buddy Jason Bratcher for sitting in with him. Our good friend "Pete Coatney" dropped by to check out his tunes, it was also good to see Greg's buddies out supporting him that nite. It was Chance's 21st birthday (Greg's buddy), so it was a big party nite for everyone involved. Another friend of mine, "Jason Breed" came by and showed his support. We later all went over and saw Jack Ingram and The Beatup Ford Band play at the Wormy Dog. Is all I can say is Jack and the boys, put on One-Helluva show, Wow!
OK, since that time up until now, I've actually turned another year older and I have been to see alot of shows, but then again, I have slept since that time, so I can't remember all the details of the shows I have been to in the last 3 months. But yesterday, the wife and I just got back in from our annual trip to Glenrose, TX to see "Tommy Alverson's Family Gathering". I also want to "Thank" Tommy for his making life easier for me while at the show, it's always appreciated. Tommy calls this his "Family Gathering", and folks that's exactly what it is, because if you've ever been to one of these, you will know what I mean. Tommy always makes you feel like part of the family. The wife and I got to Glenrose on Thursday, before the shows got on their way. I thought everyone did such a fine job all weekend. I hated to see Jason Boland having to cancel, but maybe next year he will come back. I thought Stoney LaRue and his band did a damn fine job. Then Cooder Graw played their asses off, playing well about 2 1/2 hours long. They played "Clarksville" for about 20 minutes long, with various musicians up on stage with them, it was Great! Friday, another Great lineup of people. It was good seeing Bonnie Bishop, she always does a great job. I did meet a new one this year, "Pauline Reese", what a great voice, and a very cool person. I got a chance to visit with her and her husband, "John", they are some fine folks. If you haven't ever heard "Pauline" play, you should. Another new voice I heard this year, was that of "Mike Mancy", along with his band. Now these guys was "kickin ass", a very high energy show. It was good to see Mr. Fromholz back this year, it's always good to hear his tunes, he has some good ones. I got to visit with Rusty Wier for a few, that dude is always laughing about something, he was cracking me up. Another great show from him as usual. I had went over and had me some frozen margarita's at Crazy Ray's place, kind of a retirement celebration for Ray ( now he is a lucky shit, being able to retire and all, I am definitely jealous).
Along with the margarita's and a few more late evening beverages , I ended up leaving before Johnny Bush finished his set. But Johnny was going strong, when I staggered off into the nite, I didn't plan to leave early, just one of those things. I always enjoy seeing and hearing Johnny Bush play, but that nite I just couldn't hang. You understand.
On Saturday, all the action started at noon as usual, with yet another great line-up. I stayed pretty close to the stage all day, I always hate missing people play. Then later that nite, Tommy Alverson and band played closing the show. Tommy played till about 3 or so into the next morning. And is all I can say is, WOW! Tommy and his band always bring an action packed show. He kept his crowd on their toes the whole show, some dancing in the aisles and some folks cheering him to play longer. God Bless people like Tommy Alverson, Larry Joe Taylor, and all the folks that make these shows happen. If your one of these folks that have always heard about their festivals but have never went, then what the hell are you waiting for, you won't regret going, I can promise you that. After Ginger (wife) and I got up Sunday morning, we headed to Plano, TX to see my kid play at Love and War in Plano, TX. It was his first time to play there. This place is a pretty cool place, it was our first time to ever go there. Greg was kind of the opener to the opener, or something like that. Greg played at 2:00, then SaraHamilton, then a band called, "Lost Imigrants", then headlining the show was, "Mike McClure". We wanted to stay and watch the full show, but we had a 3 hour trip ahead of us, so we left after Sara played. Alot of Thanks to Dan Hull (singer / songwriter that has some tunes that Greg is currently playing) and his wife Dessie Hull for driving up from Durant, to hear Greg play. Also, a bunch of Greg's friends from the Norman, OK area showed up, which was very cool.
So as you can tell, my weekend was action packed, with alot of Great Music.

Well enough for right now. But, I will try to do a better job of keeping this thing up next time.

So, as always, "Support Live Music"!

Finally A Sunday Morning I Can Sleep In

Wow, my new days off are great! I actually got to stay out really late last nite, and didn't have to get up early this morning. I went to the Blue Door last nite in OKC and saw a fellow that I met probably around 1997 or so, "John Greenberg". He was either playin in or sitting in with a band back in those days with, "The Panhandlers" if I remember right. They were playing at a place called "Billy Billou's (restaurant / bar) following a "Vince Gill Golf Tournament" in OKC. Then every now and then, I would run into him around the OKC area somewhere. Then last October, I bumped into him at "Tommy Alverson's Family Gathering" in Glenrose, TX, as he was playing there with some other guys for the weekend. But last nite, he and his band, whom they call theirselves, "Johnny Gringo", played at the Blue Door in OKC. This was the first time I had saw John play with his band. I am telling you, if you haven't seen these guys, I would definitely make a point to check them out. They put on "one helluva show". I always knew John was a good songwriter, as I had checked out his tunes from way back when. But his most recent record titled, "Johnny Gringo / Red River Blues" is definitely some great work. I really like the tune on there, called "Get Worse Before It Gets Better", but all the tunes are great, so what can I say. After I left the Blue Door, I ran over to the Wormy Dog, and caught "Wade Bowen and West 84" playing. I only got to hear them play like (3) songs or so, then headed out. The Wormy Dog was packed as usual. I didn't get home till like 3 or so in the morning, and didn't have to get up and go to work, which was a change.
Oh yeah, I forgot the last time I was in here, I was on my way to see Kenny Rogers for the 4th of July show in Bethany, OK. Well, seeing how there was about a millon people there and we sat about a mile from the stage, so not only could we barely see him up there, but could barely hear him as well. There were sooo damn many people out there, it really reminded me of the Okla. State Fair on a busy nite. It kind of seemed like the only people out there benefitting were the vendors, because there were plenty of people standing in lines at all the food booths. Then after it is over, we sat in the parking lot for about an hour or so before we even attemped to try to leave. So why would you want to know all that. Well, if you go next year, a word of advice, park as far away from there as possible to start with and walk. And if you like being around about a millon people, then you will fit right in. But I will say, the fireworks were great, and it felt kinda nice to just hang out with the family for a change. and relax.
Well, this next weekend, I will be out watching my son, "Greg" play on the patio at a place called "The Deep Deuce", which is about a couple blocks North of the Wormy Dog in OKC. He plays from 8-10 this next Friday nite, then we head over to the Wormy Dog and see "Jack Ingram & The Beat-Up Ford Band", he will probably start about 11 or so. Hope to see you out there.
I have had some folks ask about when I am gonna be adding more pics to the photo gallery, keep an eye out, I will be adding more soon.
And one last thing, "Support Live Music".

4th of July Weekend!!!

Well I got to go see some fireworks last nite, it's been awhile since I have gotten out to the family type shows. Last year, Ginger and I went to see "Willie Nelson's 4th of July picinic". I am pissed because I had to miss it this year. I just wasen't able to make it out there this year, hopefully next year. But I think we are headed over to see "Kenny Rogers" play later this evening, and see some more fireworks tonite.
Sorry, it has taken me so long to update this thing, been kinda busy these past few weeks. A couple of weeks ago the wife and I headed up to Ardmore to watch Hobbs Band play a benefit that he put together called, "Kooterfest". We don't get to see Greg (son), play much these days since he has been playing bass for Jeff Hobbs Band. Camille Harp & Alan Orbaugh opened the show, it was a really good nite of music, and I think they raised a few bucks for the cause. My singer / songwriter friend, "Dan Hull", drove up from Durant, OK to see the show. When Greg (son) does the acoustic thing, he usually has one of Dan's songs on the songlist. But I thought the best part of the show was seeing, Hobbs band, Camille and Alan all play a tune together.
Then last week, Ginger and I headed up to Whitney, TX for a family reunion. On the way up there, we headed over to Deep Ellum in Dallas, and went and ate one of those huge burgers at Adairs, then headed over to the Gypsy Tea Room and saw "Todd Snider & The Nervous Wrecks", with Fred Eaglemith opening the show. Those guys "rocked out. The only other time I saw Todd with the band was in Nashville sometime around 1997 I think. We saw him at a street festival, but the only thing was, I didn't know who he was back then. At that show, Todd fell onstage and busted his head and I think even knocked a tooth loose. Of course, he was celebrating his 30th birthday that evening. At first I thought he was a little tough on himself, but "Hey" it was his 30th birthday. In fact, if you look at the photo gallery, you will see a pic I took from that trip of Todd along with The Nervous Wrecks, but notice right below the stage, is "Grady Cross" (Cross Canadian Ragweed) It was at that show I was introduced to his music, which now I own all of his records. If you don't own one of Todd's records, and since all of them are Great, then I suggest just buying them all, you'll be glad you did.
Then this last Thursday nite, I went and watched my kid (Greg) play over at, The Deli in Norman. He was over there playing bass for "Jeff Hobbs Band". Alan Orbaugh was there and sat in with them. On Saturday nite, I headed over to Bricktown for the "1st Annual Red Dirt 4th of July Bricktown Festival". Amanda Cunningham opened the show, but when I got there, "Tucker Road" was just about to finish up, then "Badwater" took the stage. I always enjoy getting a chance to hear those guys play, they always have some "ass-kickin" music. Following them, were, "The Lost Trailers", now here is a group that I've never gotten to see before and "Damn" those guys were rockin the place. I got a chance to visit with them a little bit, and they are all some damn nice fellas also. I am definitely a fan. Then, "Bleu Edmondson" and his band took the stage. Bleu always puts on a "great" show. I've seen him play several times in years past and he always brings the folks to their toes and you will notice everybody singing along every word to his tunes. He had a couple of new faces in the band that I haven't seen before, but they played like they have been together for years. Then later on at end of Bleu's set, some members of "The Lost Trailers" joined him onstage to close the show. Also, I wanted to say a big, "Thanks" to Bleu Edmondson's people for making life a lot easier for me while at the show. It was good to see a different style of music (which I call "The Good Music") being played at one of the Bricktown functions. But it does seem like that I have suggested the idea of wanting to see the Red Dirt Music in years past at one of those festivals, but nobody listens to me. I have been trying to educate folks on this kind of music for the last 10 years or so around here. While some listen and some have to wait till it's their idea or somebody elses to accept this kind of music doesn't make sense to me. That's probably why I drove to Texas for so many years to get this kind of music. So "God Bless placess like the Wormy Dog, Blue Door, The Deli and hopefully we might even see more venues booking this type of music. And to the folks that wasen't out for the show at Bricktown the other nite and missed it, well you missed a damn good show. But then the nite wasen't over, everybody headed over inside the Wormy Dog where, Amanda Cunningham, some members of The Lost Trailers and Badwater had a big jam session, what an evening of music.
Last nite, (July 3rd) I had "Southern Pride" booked in Yukon as a part of their July 4th celebration. Ginger and I along with my oldest son"Chris" and his fiancee hung around for the big fireworks show. One helluva fireworks show at that. Southern Pride is another great band that I don't get to brag on enough. Most bands have to have a band practice on occasions, but Southern Pride, usually call their practice, is the band going out and listening to a new song on their car CD while on a break, then going back in and playing the tune. Go check them out if they come to your area.
Well a few shows around town coming up that I ought to mention,

July 6 - TJ McFarland / Acoustic - Wormy Dog Saloon
7 - Stoney LaRue - Wormy Dog Saloon
7 - FogHat, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts - Zoo Amphitheatre / OKC
8 - Tucker Road - Wormy Dog Saloon
9 - Wade Bowen - Wormy Dog Saloon
9 - John Greenberg / Blue Door / OKC
13 - Mike Eli / Acoustic - Wormy Dog Saloon
15 - Greg Reichel (son) / Acoustic / Deep Deuce Grill /OKC / 8:00 pm-10 pm
15 - Bob Schneider / The Deli / Norman, OK
15 - Jack Ingram & BeatUp Ford Band - Wormy Dog Saloon
15 - Jim Lauerdale & Dustin Welch / Blue Door / OKC
15 - Ted Nuegent - Heritage Hall - Ardmore, OK

I will tell you on my next visit to this thing how Kenny Rogers show come out.

I'll see you at the shows.

One last thing, "Support Live Music"

One lazy day

It's my day off and I just can't get myself motivated to do much today. I haven't been able to get used to this new work schedule of mine yet. Things been a little slow around here these past few weeks. I did get out last Friday nite and went over to Bricktown and drank a little beer with a couple of friends of mine from work. I was actually headed over to see "Charlie Robison" play at the Wormy Dog, but never made it, but I heard they had a nice crowd though. Then Saturday nite, we had a little engagement party for Chris & Sherri, they scheduled their wedding for "June 24, 2006", their in no hurry. At the party I got to see some I already knew and met some new folks. It was a pretty good turnout I guess (about 50 people or so). Greg was playing with Hobbs band in Gainesville that nite, so he wasen't here. Hobbs band is playing at Heritage Hall High School this Friday nite part of some Cancer benefit. Then on Sat. nite they play in Ardmore, OK, as part of "Kooterfest". I think there is other bands that are playing. I'm not sure what time it all happens. Next week, I will spend a few days in Texas, I can't wait to get away for a few days.
I think there are some shows going on starting tonite at the Wormy Dog with a fellow named "Robert Henry & The B-Team", this guy was part of the same Singer /Songwriter show that Greg played on at the White Elephant recently. I think tomorrow nite, "Texas Jack" is back and on Sat. nite "No Justice" is playing. Also, at the Zoo Amphitheatre on Friday nite, "Big Head Todd & The Monsters", "Little Feat", "The Beach Boys". Also, keep an eye on the "The Blue Door's" shows, they got some good ones coming up.
As for me, who knows which direction I will go this weekend. See ya at a show somewhere.

One last thing, "Support Live Music".......

Well it's been awhile since I left anything on here. I guess I better update this thing. I'm still trying to get use to this whole blogg thing. It's kind of like a place to write yourself a letter or something. Kind of a weird deal for me. My wife also reminds me that I'm no journalist, when writing this stuff, well hell, I already knew that. Deal with it.
I'm getting in kind of late tonite, I went out and listened to a friend of mine that plays lead guitar at a house gig in OKC. Seeing how this is my Saturday night, I had to get out and hear some live music. Working these weekends is wearing me out. I have been out to see a few shows since I was in here last. A couple Saturday's ago, Ginger, Greg, Chris, Sherri & I went out to see "Kevin Fowler", "Jack Ingram & BUF band", and "Pat Green" play at an outdoor show at the Wormy Dog in OKC. A band called, "Forty 5 South", opened the show. Also, I wanted to say, "Thanks" to my friend, "Pete" for making life easier for the family at this show. This was the first time since I have been taking photos at these shows, that someone insulted the camera that I was using. I thought people only insulted about the kind of golf clubs you used or something like that. I laughed all the way home about that. Anyway, this was the first time I had ever saw Forty 5 South, and I thought they really did a good job. Then Kevin Fowler & his band played, they had the crowd singing along. I haven't seen them in awhile, so it was good to see them back in town. I got to visit with my old buddy "Chris" (fiddle player for Fowler) for a little bit. He reminds me so much of a younger version of "Charlie Daniels", damn that kid can play. Then "Jack Ingram" played next. These guys "always" deliver great music, they are certainly one of my favorites. I saw and met Jack play for the first time at a club in downtown, OKC back in Jan 1997. I have been going to their shows when I can ever since. Pat Green came out and sang with Jack, which was really cool. Then Pat Green came on. Pat and his band did a helluva job that day. Then later in his set, he got Jack back up there and sat in with him this time. Then later, Kevin joined them onstage. It was a "great nite" of music. I heard there were about 3000 people that showed. Then the following Monday, I went out and watched Travis Linville & friends play at the Deli in Norman. He had Terry Ware, Tic-Tac, and some other dude that I didn't know playing. They were really sounding good. I ran into Greg's buddy "Lucas", he recently got the opportunity to be it the new movie coming out, "Dukes Of Hazzard". I'm not sure how often he played in it or if he was just part of the crowd in the movie, but you can't miss him. He kind of reminds me what a 25 year old "Willie Nelson" would look like.
The following Friday, Ginger and I went and saw Jeff Hobbs Band play at Remington Park in between the races. Since Greg is now playing bass for Jeff, we thought we would get out and support the kid, and the Hobbs boys. I bet on a couple of races, but lost everytime. Go figure. After it was over, I rode with Greg down to the Wormy Dog to see (Micky and the Motorcars) play. We only stayed for a little bit. Those guys were playing their asses off, and put on a great show.
Then tonite I went out and listened to some live music.
Well that pretty much wraps up the last couple of weeks of places I been hanging out at. I'm not sure which direction I am headed tomorrow nite or who I am going to go see, but I'm sure i will find some music somewhere.

One last thing, "Support Live Music".

Cooder Graw music on a Saturday nite

Well I started out my week early out listening to music. This past Tuesday nite I went over to a friend's birthday party bash. I saw alot of folks I knew, and met some I've never met before. A bunch of musicians were all jamming enjoying the evening, until we got a visit from the Mustang Police Dept. Heck, it just turned 9:00 that evening and they claimed everybody had to quit playing, what kind of law is that?? I think all the neighborhood was at the party and they were having a good time. Well they did manage to get in about 3 hours of good tunes before the music had to come to an end. I think the law was just jealous because they didn't get invited.
Ginger and I went and saw "Cooder Graw" @ the Wormy Dog on Saturday nite (Greg even tagged along with us), they put on a "heck-uva show", as usual. It looks like they got a new drummer, since I saw them last at "LJT Festival", he does a great job for them. Longtime friend of mine "Shawn" came by the "Wormy Dog that evening with his friend. Shawn and I worked together for several years, maybe he is finally listening to all the preachin I did over the years about, listening to the good music.
I'm planning on going to see "Pat Green", "Kevin Fowler", and "Jack Ingram" this next weekend, see ya there.

Another Weekend

Well this week just flew by, I didn't even get out and hear any tunes at all this weekend. I just hung around the house on my days off. I did manage to accomplish a few things believe it or not. Then last nite we had a family get together to celebrate Mother's Day, had a cookout out, both Chris & his girlfriend (Sherri), Greg and some other family were over. Then tonite (Sunday) Greg plays at the White Elephant in Ft. Worth, TX on a special Singer / Songwriter nite they are having. I think the wife is driving down to catch the show, but I have to work today, I won't be making this trip. Then tomorrow nite, Greg will meet up with the rest of the Jeff Hobbs band and they will play at Adairs in Deep Ellum. Well, that is all I know for now.

Getting this page started

Well I think I may have already messed up getting this thing started - sorry about that.
First off, I wanted to just say a big "Thanks" to Philip Corder for working his ass off in getting my photo's attached to his site. I hope everyone enjoys the photo's that he has set up on here for me. Philip has done a great job on the whole "Toss Music" website, if you are new to the site, you will need to check out his radio show also. I really believe in what he doing and when I saw what TOSS stood for, I thought that is where some of my pics I have taken at the many shows I attend need to be. It actually stands for Texas - Oklahoma Singer Songwriter. Well anyways "Thanks Again" Philip.
Well a few weeks ago I spent 3 days enjoying the "Larry Joe Taylor Music Festival" in Stephenville , TX. Larry Joe always knows how to throw a party. I had a blast as usual. My songwriter buddy, "Dan Hull" rode down together. I saw alot of great acts while there. And "Thanks" to Larry Joe, Sherry, and Zack Taylor, and Jeff Mack for making life alot easier for me while there. I also got to see some old friends that I usually only get a chance to see at these deals, like my buddy Keith, Freelance Vance, Dennis (the cook), and several others. Jeremy Jager (Hogg Legg Ellis) & Rodney Pyeatt came by and visited for a bit. I missed my old friend, "Walt Wilkin's" set, but did get to visit with him for a little bit. It was also good to see "Susan Gibson" again, haven't seen her in a while. Of course I had to get a pic of her cool boots. All the bands were great as usual. I stayed pretty busy taking photo's but still got to enjoy all the good music. I didn't get out to the campfires as much as I wanted to, my aching feet gave me some problems in that dept. But overall, it was another "Great" weekend of music.
Then last Saturday nite, I went and saw "Shooter Jennings" at the Wormy Dog in OKC. His mother "Jessie Colter", came out and done a tune with him. The place was packed and he rocked the house. I am hoping to see him back there soon.
Well that's all the stuff I know for now. Not sure where I am going to listen to music this week, butI imagine I will find some somewhere.

Getting this page started
